Manager Wayne Burnett and coach Darren Currie, were both hearted by Dagenham’s fantastic fightback against Scunthorpe yesterday.

The Daggers were three nil down with a little over an hour gone in the game, but that sparked a supreme effort from the players and we managed to get ourselves back on level terms.

Speaking to the press following the game, Burnett said firstly about the match.

‘I have no idea what has gone on there to be honest with you. All of a sudden we are 3-0 down and we come and get back to 3-3. That’s why this game is beautiful because you never know what’s around the corner. After being 3-0 down you have got to be absolutely delighted with the point and I am. We showed fantastic character to come back.’

Whilst the fightback was brilliant to witness, and Burnett can’t credit the spirit and the desire of the team enough following their response, he was obviously very frustrated to see us be in that position in the first place, because although he didn’t feel we performed particularly badly during the game, defensively we weren’t with it.

Our defensive showing was a point of order for Currie when he spoke to the official site following the game, as like the gaffer, he couldn’t have been more proud of the lads for fighting their way back into the game at 3-0 down, and he does feel we started well enough, but they took the lead against the run of play, but for the first goal especially, he says that questions need to be asked because you cannot defend like that against a team like Scunthorpe, especially the form they are in, and you certainly shouldn’t be defending like that on home soil.

Take the positives, learn from the mistakes and hopefully get ourselves on an unbeaten run again because if we can start picking up results more consistently again we still could make a late charge for the Play Off spots, but we can’t afford to waste too many more games.
