Manager Wayne Burnett has admitted it’s a bit of a case of mixed feelings following the draw with Chesterfield.

Speaking to the press after the game, the manager confirmed that he was obviously pleased and delighted to see our losing streak come to an end with a point against the table toppers, but he couldn’t help feel slightly disappointed that we didn’t take all three points given how the game played out.

The draw brings to an end a run of three straight defeats and is a nicer way to end the last football action of 2013 than another loss would’ve been, but seeing them reduced to ten men and missing a penalty in the game left the gaffer thinking what could’ve been at full time.

‘I thought we looked positive on the front foot and had a bit more oomph about us. I can’t fault the lads, they worked incredibly hard and I thought it was a good performance considering we have had three not so good results. But I actually felt we should’ve won. We had enough chances to win.’

The gaffer added that he told and asked the players for a big effort in the game, and he could’ve have been more pleased with how they responded to that request and performed on the day, and for those he brought into the game, he was delighted with how they slotted in.

On to 2014 now!
