Dagenham and Redbridge have secured the signing of youngster Matt Partridge.

The 20 year old defender has signed an initial 12 month contract at the club, and was a regular in Reading’s U21 side in 2013-14, taking in a loan spell at Ryman Premier Division side Bognor Regis Town as well.

In 2013-14 he moved on to Basingstoke Town in the search of regular first team football, and found the net for them four times in 15 appearances.

Speaking to the Official Site Partridge explained that he was hoping his versatility in the backline would prove to be an asset as he looks to work his way into manager Wayne Burnett’s first team plans.

‘I’m really excited to get started. I came here from Reading where I experienced playing centre back, left back and right back. There was a big squad at Reading and I was in the U21’s and went on loan to get some experience, I feel it’s broadened my experience to have come here and get some first team experience.’

During his time with Basingstoke last season, he also played in central midfield for them, so the options he can provide Burnett should certainly increase his chances of getting minutes under his belt as the year progresses now.

He could even make an early debut when we face his former club Basingstoke as he has joined us in time to be in contention for that summer friendly.
