Should midfielder and skipper Abu Ogogo start the game against Burton Albion tomorrow, come the end of the game he will be celebrating his 200th starting appearance for Dagenham and Redbridge.

The 24 year old joined back in the summer of 2009 and has already clocked up his 200th appearance in all competitions when you factor in those times he has come off the bench, but Burton will be the all important 200th start.

Speaking to London24 our skipper said he knew it was getting close and that his five years with us have flown by, but he didn’t realise this weekend would mark that particular milestone in his club career.

‘It’s pleasing to have had so many games at the club and hopefully this isn’t the last landmark. To be captain of the side makes it extra special.’

In the remainder of the interview he goes on to talk about his goal return this season having been moved up to the midfield position, which he’s always preferred, and he credits manager Wayne Burnett for allowing him to make that position change, and he hopes that the faith shown in him has been rewarded by the fact that he’s scored on eight occasions so far this season, in comparison to his five goals in the previous 165 games with us.

Grabbing the winner on the weekend would be one way to celebrate the occasion!
