Wayne Burnett was delighted to see Dagenham pick up their second win of the season against Bristol Rovers and he believes it’s an exciting time to be at the club now.

Goals in each half from Ogogo and Howell moved us onto a nine point return for the season so far, and if we can keep this going now we’ll open up a nice gap on those behind us.

Speaking to the Official Site following the game, Burnett admitted that he felt they put us under a lot of pressure in the second half and we relied on Lewington to make some good saves between the sticks but overall he felt we had good control of the match and we more than deserved the win on the balance of things.

Singling out Lewington for his performance and the penalty save, he said.

‘He’s fantastic at penalty saves, I’m delighted for him, delighted for the team and delighted we got three points.’

Burnett goes on to add that he’s been happy with the players that he has brought into the club this season, and he feels that they are adjusting to what he wants from them and settling in well with their colleagues so he’s looking for further improvement over the coming weeks as well.

He was also pleased to be able to start two 18 year olds in the game as he knows the experience will do them the world of good as they continue to develop and grow as players.

First team coach Warren Hackett was also obviously delighted following the final whistle, saying he was pleased with the performance and commitment of the players especially as he feels we learnt from the last match where we were in a good position but couldn’t capitalise on it, this time out we made sure we were more clinical and we got our just rewards.

‘We were brave in the second half and passed the ball very well. We didn’t talk about last week at half time, but everyone knew we were in the same position and I think it was a good win today. Clean sheets keep me very happy, it was a fantastic save by Lewington.’

All smiles in training this week ahead of our next game, let’s hope our form continues like that and we pick up some more good wins.
