Dagenham have announced today that winger Ashley Hemmings has now signed a one year deal with the club.

The 23 year old has been training with us looking to impress, and that’s exactly what he’s managed in the eyes of manager Wayne Burnett.

Having began his career at Wolves, he has taken in loan spells with Cheltenham Town, Torquay United and Plymouth Argyle before moving on to Walsall permanently in the summer of 2012.

Last season for Walsall he did make 32 appearances, but in the second half of the season appearances were limited so he went out for a loan spell with Burton in March, and played his part in their run for the play offs.

He was released by Walsall over the summer, and has also represented England at youth level.

In his career so far he has taken in 58 starts with a further 51 appearances from the bench, and has returned eight goals.

Speaking to the Official Site after penning the deal, he said.

‘It feels great to be joining a club that’s really passionate, and I know that my team mates are really hard working, I feel very welcome already. I’ve loved being here, I got stuck in straight away and I’ve tried to come in (on trial), stay relaxed and show them what I can do.’

Hemmings goes on to say that his preferred position is in the top three and he feels very comfortable up front and on the wing, and those positions bring out the best in him in terms of strikes at goals and assists but obviously being a wideman he can also slot in on the sides of midfield and play a touch further back.
