Manager Wayne Burnett was left with a feeling of frustration following our one nil loss to Newport County because he knows the team did absolutely everything but score over the course of the 90 minutes.

Speaking to the Official Site following the game, Burnett explained.

‘We did everything but score, they scored and they’ve taken the three points and the game changed after the sending off. We started very brightly and had a few chances and should’ve capitalised better, but we didn’t. When it’s 0-0 it gives them a chance to stay in the game and we should’ve put away our chances and been two or three up.’

With striker Jamie Cureton starting from the bench, the manager went on to say that when he came on he looked very lively indeed and of course hit the woodwork a few times and he was just frustrated with how unlucky we were in front of goal on the day.

‘Again, we’ve conceded late, they’ve broke through and given the ball away and we haven’t marked correctly and they’ve scored, it was very disappointing.’

With the referee handing out five yellows and a red specifically to us and Abu Ogogo, Burnett went on to say that he didn’t think there was a ‘bad foul’ in the game but both teams were competitive, but it does mean that we will now be without three of our five midfielders following Ogogo’s red but he’s still confident that we’ll go to Luton in good spirits because he knows we had enough chances to have comfortably won that game.
