Dagenham and Redbridge chairman Dave Bennett has looked back on a decent campaign in 2013-14 that saw us finish in ninth place, and looked a little to the future in terms of plans for 2014-15.

The full statement can be read on the Official Site the chairman first had praise for the efforts of the manager and the players for lifting us so high up the table this year, and admitted had it not been for key injuries throughout the season, we could’ve finished on an even higher note really.

‘We will all be reasonably pleased at finishing 9th in the table, a fantastic effort by the players and staff. If we can improve again next season as much as we did this year, I’m sure we will all be very happy.’

Bennett goes on to say that manager Wayne Burnett will be making his final choices in terms of our retained list by the end of the week and as is usual, some will stay and some will move on as the club look to improve further.

‘During the summer the manager will be striving to bring in new talent to improve our squad and we will all need to be patient as this can take time. The manager has approximately 30% of the players wage budget to spend on new contracts, which I believe is higher than it has been in recent years.’

Of course, as part of our continued growth, there are off pitch matters to be attended to as well, and the chairman talks about the improvement being made to our facilities, and most notably the refurbished main clubhouse toilets, inside and outside decorating and the upgrading of all TV sets in the clubhouse bar areas for HD quality reception.

The chairman says this work will continue throughout the summer but not everything can be done in one go as finances limit what can be achieved.
