Wayne Burnett has said he believes Dagenham have the character to enjoy a good season this term after seeing us battle to a draw against Scunthorpe.

Speaking to the press following the one all draw and Luke Howell rescuing a point, Burnett said he felt we had the quality to avoid another relegation battle, we just have to believe in ourselves.

‘It’s imperative this season that we get off to a good start. Not many teams will come to Scunthorpe and go away with a point. I must confess I thought we’d be leaving with nothing when they went in front after 88 minutes, and I was really upset with the way we conceded. But we showed great character to come back and equalise. I was delighted with that.’

Burnett adds that he feels a draw is a fair result overall and he’s pleased with the progress that we are making so far, but he knows we still have more to go.
