Manager Wayne Burnett has talked about our new signings, the pre season schedule and potential signings he still wants to make.

Speaking to the Official Site the gaffer explained that he was still hoping to bring in one or two more experienced players to help the group out, but he wasn’t just talking about players with an older age.

‘We’re going to get one or two more in, I think you can be experienced at 21 – just look at both Abu and Scott Doe – at 24 they have played over 200 games each. We’re now looking to bring in forwards and wide players. There are a few we’re looking at that will be playing on Saturday, four or five will feature, so you’ll get an opportunity to see them there.’

With Dagenham arranging a busy schedule of games this season as we prepare for League Two in 2014-15, Burnett was also quick to stress that it was all about fitness, and he wasn’t too bothered about how many games we won because they don’t give you points at this stage.

‘We’re got games coming up, the key part is the fitness and getting games under the belt. The result doesn’t mean anything to me, of course we would like to win but we just want to get something out of our games that will benefit what we’re trying to do.’

Burnett ends by saying that all that really matters at this time of the year is making sure that the players are in the perfect condition and confidence to hit the ground running when we play that opening game of the season so we can start the campaign with a return of three points.
