Manager Wayne Burnett has reiterated his disappointment with the result against Fleetwood, and he’s also given an update on the unfortunate injury to on loan Dominic Samuel.

Speaking to the Official Site Burnett said again that he felt we put in a reasonable performance and shift during the game and whilst they probably had the first half by a touch, he felt we were better in the second given the chances we created.

Despite other issues in the game, he felt though.

‘Their goal could’ve been avoided, we have to do better, we have to defend better. Our home defensive record has been great. We haven’t done well away from home, and it needs to improve.’

He goes on to add that maybe we’ve tried to be more expansive away from home than we need to be, and being a little tighter would be more useful but whatever it is, we need to start adding points to our away record to build on what we are achieving on home soil.

As for Dominic Samuel, he adds that he felt the loanee was doing very well prior to his injury and he was starting to have a really good impact on the game having grown into it, so he can consider himself very unfortunate to have picked up what could be a bad injury.

Having returned to is parent club, they still haven’t been able to conduct scans yet as they are waiting for the swelling to go down first, but Reading have said it looks very likely that the scans will reveal that he’ll be out injured past the natural expiry of his loan with us, so it’s very unlikely he’ll be returning.
