Manager Wayne Burnett has remained positive following our draw with Mansfield Town last weekend, and like those who came before him to the press, he believes that with the number and type of chances we created, we were unlucky to have not come out of the game with all three points and a victory.

Speaking to the Official Site following the match, the gaffer explained.

‘I think we had enough chances to win the game and I think we looked a little bit nervous at times. We’ve continued to create chances, but we haven’t put them in the back of the net and at the beginning of the season those sort of chances were finding the back of the net.’

Burnett went on to say that we are now at the point of the season where he will seriously consider rotating people for freshness purposes, as although he’s normally mindful of changing a team when overall they aren’t doing too badly and could be regaining some form again, he feels it would be right to do so on the coming weeks as not doing too badly but not having results go for you as you would want can sometimes be helped by fresh impetus.

‘We’re getting to that stage where players need freshening up and we might make a couple of changes. Especially if you’re not winning you look for solutions and I thought that the team that played did very well, on another day, we could’ve run away comfortable winners.’

The gaffer does go on to say that he’d be far more worried at the moment if we weren’t creating chances, but something needs to change and we need to start taking them again and get ourselves back on to a winning run as the play offs could still be a reasonable aim if we get ourselves sorted out quickly without wasting any more time.
