Manager Wayne Burnett has said he’s extremely proud of the players following their momentous efforts in last night’s twelve goal thriller against Brentford.

Having been two nil down a fantastic attacking display saw Porter, Chambers, Boucaud, Cureton and a Hemmings brace give us a fantastic score of six to take the game into penalties, but speaking to the Official Site Burnett was obviously disappointed to see us concede six as well as we then went on to lose the shoot out.

‘I was pleased with the comeback, we didn’t start particularly well, we were two nil down within ten minutes and I thought it would be an onslaught. The boys showed some good character to come back and it was a really good game in the end.’

Having lost our league opener three nil, seeing some of the new signings all get on the score sheet was a good boost for the gaffer, and he knows we looked a completely different team to the one that faced Morecambe last weekend and even though he was proud as punch of their efforts, seeing us leak goals like that again was a concern and a disappointment.

‘It showed us that we are fit, we are strong and that will hold us in good stead. The thing that disappoints me is that we conceded six goals, but I’m pleased we looked better going forward after Saturday’s match, but we have to be better as a team defensively.’

He ends by saying that overall he just has to be proud of the effort, the character and the spirit of the lads because it was a real good shift against a very good opposition.
