With the League Two campaign kicking off tomorrow manager Wayne Burnett has given a latest update on things and admitted now results matter for us following our pre season hiccups.

Having added Andre Boucaud and George Porter to the team in the last week the gaffer said he was delighted with their arrivals and he believes they will add good depth and competition over the coming season because both have plenty to offer us.

‘They will definitely enhance and strengthen our group. Everyone knows that George has got ability and all the attributes, people have paid good money for him, but for whatever reason he’s lost his way. If we can get him back on track we’ll have a very good player on our hands.’

Porter has signed a deal looking to impress until December only and the challenge is to get an extension.

Having added those two, and having missed out on a couple of other targets, Burnett admitted he still wanted to add to the squad because he doesn’t believe it’s complete yet for the season ahead.

As for the Morecambe game more specifically though, he says he knows it’s going to be a very tough and competitive game – especially for a season opener – but there was also a positive update on injured striker Rhys Murphy.

The gaffer revealed he was now back in light training, and running having been given the all clear so hopefully he won’t be too far off a return and getting back to the form and threat we expect him to be and it’s hopeful he could be back to full speed by September.
