Manager Wayne Burnett has said he was thrilled with the two nil victory over Wycombe last weekend, but he still thinks we could’ve played better.

Goals from Obafemi and Murphy gave us all three points on the day, but the manager told the Official Site following the game that he felt we still could’ve done better, especially once they were reduced to ten men.

‘I wasn’t overly happy with the performance if I’m being honest, but absolutely delighted with the result. We didn’t perform to the levels that I and they expect and I made my feelings quite clear. I made it known I was not happy with the new performance, hindsight is a wonderful thing, should I have been as critical as I was? Maybe not.’

Burnett goes on to say that he wants each and every player within the squad to be the best they possibly can be, and he was disappointed because he knows they can do so much better and clearly last season still drives him as I references where we were and says he hated every minute of it so he doesn’t want it to happen again.

‘If I’m going to make players unhappy because I demand from them, I want the best for the club and for them, I’m going to have to continue to make people unhappy.’

With all that said, Burnett goes on to say that he feels we have done alright this season, but again he feels there is still more to come from the team, especially in terms of performance consistency but clearly it is about the results and we did get that even if the performance wasn’t quite there.

In terms of the injury to Obafemi, the gaffer says that it doesn’t look too bad for him he just rolled his ankle a touch. He’s not expecting him to miss training though, and he expects him to figure in the behind closed doors game we have set up to keep sharpness high with no game this weekend.
