Manager Wayne Burnett has said he was made up to be nominated for the LMA League Two Manager of the Year Award this season in recognition of the season that we have had.

Burnett was shortlisted alongside the eventual winner, Scunthorpe’s Russ Wilcox, and fellow promoted duo Paul Cook of Chesterfield and Keith Hill of Rochdale.

Speaking to the Official Site, Burnett said he was ‘chuffed’ to have even been nominated for the 2013-14 season.

‘I was made up, to be nominated by your peers is a fantastic accolade. I was honoured to be nominated alongside the Managers who finished first, second and third in the league.’

Of course the LMA Award is voted for by LMA members ie fellow league managers, and Burnett goes on to say that he feels it’s a tremendous nod to the whole club for the progress we made that he secured the votes of so many of his opposite colleagues

‘Being nominated by your peers is nice and to be recognised is a real achievement. They’re the ones you look to and have a lot of vast experience. I’m delighted.’

Of course, a bigger delight would be seeing us continue to progress and develop next season and improve even further to maybe have an outside of hope of pushing for the play off spots again and if that can be done, then maybe he’ll be able to go a step further in the LMA vote as well.
