Dagenham have announced the signing of 28 year old striker Chris Dickson on a contract until May 2014.

The Ghana international has most recently played for Chinese Super League team Shanghai East Asia, but he has plenty of experience in England from spells with Dulwich Hamlet, Charlton Atheltic, Crewe and Gillingham.

Dagenham actually tried to sign him back in 2007 but we couldn’t match the deal that Charlton were prepared to give him.

He’s been given the No 14 shirt for the season.

Speaking to the Official Site the manager explained.

‘I’m absolutely delighted that we’ve managed to capture Chris Dickson. He’s a player I’ve worked with previously and someone we hope will come here and score goals.’

Dickson’s move is still subject to international clearance, but that shouldn’t pose a problem really.

Dickson himself said that the move was a no brainer for him because his relationship with Wayne Burnett is second to non, and he credits him for being one of the main reasons he became a professional footballer in the first place, so he owes him a debt of gratitude and is more than willing to show that on the pitch and through his performances now he’s joined up with him again.
